How Many Lessons Will You Need?

Most new drivers need at least 30 hours of professional driving lessons before they reach test standard. Some need more because everyone is different. Remember also that nerves can play a big part in the driving test and because of this few candidates drive to their best ability under test pressure. It is therefore vital that you are really well prepared and up to standard before taking the test. You need to be 120% prepared to deliver 100% performance on the day.

The latest Driving Standards Agency (DSA) research established that most people who pass their test have had, on average, 40 hours of professional training combined with 22 hours of private practice.

Once you have passed your test it is wise to take the Pass Plus course, which will extend your driving experience beyond what is possible before you have a full licence. Pass Plus includes:
   Town Driving
   All-weather driving
Out of town driving and rural roads
   Night Driving
   Dual carriageways
   Motorways

There is no test required for Pass Plus

Once you have successfully completed the 6-hour course you will receive a certificate that is recognised by about a dozen insurance companies. These companies will give you a Pass-Plus discount, usually about 20%, which can be worth more than the cost of the Pass-Plus course.
